Technical Architecture and Information Security

Benefits

  • Creating target state for the overall information technology that supports the business.
  • Analyzing the effects of future changes becomes easier.
  • New, commonly accepted concepts are outlined.
  • Harmonizing the entity makes management easier and reduces costs.

Developing eServices requires a specific architectural framework and there are a few guiding principles that should be followed in order to succeed. The eService architecture has to follow the basic principles of technical architecture and architecture strategy. Architecture strategy defines how to control the process, the basic framework, and procedures for the activities. eService architecture must be developed in such a way that interoperability among different systems is possible as well as integration between existing applications. It consists of eService environments, platforms, and components and modules provided by the platforms and eventually transaction services which will be used in accordance with commonly accepted procedures and processes. The purpose is to achieve a state where the eService strategy will act as guidance when developing and implementing existing and future eServices.

Authentic eServices as a Target State

The main objective of eServices is to enable the service provider and service receiver to transact with each other via eServices. Developing an eService architectural framework requires that systems are integrated as a single, well-functioning entity using the basic principles of service-oriented architecture (SOA) as well as an open standard provided by the applications. Basically, this means that systems based on an SOA will package functionality as a suite of interoperable services that can be used within multiple, separate systems from several business domains. In addition, both existing and new applications should provide interoperable services based on an SOA framework and new functionality should be able to orchestrate with existing functions.

Information security is an integral part of eServices because without a guarantee of privacy and security the service receiver will not be willing to use eServices. From the beginning Propentus has focused on developing and providing information secured eServices. We have been pioneers in the field of identity and access rights management, which can be seen in our eService solutions. In addition, we provide different kinds of information security levels in accordance with service requirements, such as encrypting connections, guaranteed data coherence, strong user authentication, single sign-on, and an electronic signature. An adequate information security level must be identified on a case by case basis in order to have well-functioning information security solutions.
